Competitive Gymnastics Teams
Academy West offers competitive gymnastics for girls 5 years and older. Academy West is a member club of USA Gymnastics, the National Governing Body for gymnastics in the United States.
Compulsory Levels 2-5
Level 2 is the first competitive level. There are requirements for each level. The competitive season runs usually from March to May ending with a State Meet. The Compulsory meets are in state, with one additional out of state meet offered per season.
The Director and coaches determine which level each student should be in. Academy West has produced many champions including Individual, All-Around and Team State Champs!
Optional Levels 6-10
Optional gymnastics is for the higher level gymnasts and individual routines are made up for each gymnast. The Optionals compete in state and out of state. Academy West has had many champions at State and Regional competitions.
Courtney Marsh is the Program Director. Courtney is a Professional USA Gymnastics Member Coach, USA Gymnastics Safety Certified, CPR and safety trained, attends USA National and Regional Congress, gymnastics trainings and clinics, trains staff members, coached all levels through optional for 16 years, USA Gymnastics Certified Judge 6 years through Level 10 & College, NAWGJ Professional Member, USECA Member, Member of the Utah State Board, former Class 1 gymnast, coached many 1st and 2nd place teams, coached many individual champions at all levels at state, regionals, and to the college level.
Academy West team coaches meet current USAG requirements, including current background check, safety certification, and professional membership, along with our own continuing education and training.
Competition is a valuable learning experience, developing skills such as poise, self esteem, self-motivation, determination, and discipline and FUN. We all have a personal best to which we can aspire. The Academy West staff is dedicated to helping each gymnast obtain their goals.
Academy West believes that if you teach a child to succeed in what they do, you have taught them a lesson for life. We are making ‘Champions for Life’!
